Everything you might want to know about Knockoff — pricing, trials, payroll, and how your data is handled. Still stuck? Email hello@knockoff.co.nz.
Two plans you can start yourself, and one we price for you:
All prices are in NZD and exclude GST. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial — no credit card needed to begin.
No — the plan prices are GST exclusive. New Zealand GST of 15% is added at checkout. So, for example, the Starter plan is $35 + $5.25 GST = $40.25 per month in total.
Your Stripe receipt and tax invoice show the GST component separately, so it's ready for your accountant.
When you sign up, you get 7 days free with no credit card required. You can add your crew, set up job sites, and run real timesheets during the trial — it's the full app, not a stripped-back demo.
When you're ready to keep going, you pick a plan and enter your card. If Knockoff isn't for you, just walk away — nothing is charged.
Your trial includes everything, GPS check-in included, so you can see what Pro does before deciding. GPS stays on Pro — if you choose Starter, your crew still clock in and out, their location just isn't recorded.
GPS. On both plans your crew clock in and out on their phones, breaks are handled, you approve the hours, and you export them to payroll.
On Pro, every clock-in and clock-out also records the job site location, so the timesheet shows where the day happened, not just when. If your crew work across several sites, or you bill clients for time on their job, that's the plan you want. Pro also covers 10 crew instead of 5.
Starter covers 5 active crew and Pro covers 10. When your team grows, you move up a plan — Knockoff tells you when you've hit the limit and points you at the upgrade. No one's hours are ever deleted or hidden because of a plan change.
Past 10 crew, get in touch at hello@knockoff.co.nz and we'll sort out Business trade pricing for your outfit.
Payments are handled by Stripe, one of the world's most trusted payment processors. Knockoff never sees or stores your full card number — that stays with Stripe. You'll be charged automatically each month until you cancel.
No. Knockoff runs in the phone's web browser — your crew just open a link you share with them and bookmark it to their home screen. No App Store, no Play Store, no updates to chase.
Simple as it gets: your crew pick their name from a list and enter a 4–6 digit PIN you set for them. No email, no password to forget. If they can tap in a phone code, they can clock their hours.
With your email and a password, or with a sign-in link we email you — whichever suits. The first time, use the emailed link, then tap Password at the top of your dashboard to set a password. Forgotten it? Tap Forgot password? on the sign-in screen. The emailed link always works as a backup, so you can't get locked out.
Easy. They clock in at the first site, and when they move they pick the next site under Clock In/Out and tap Arrived. The app shows their day as a list of sites and times, and fills in "multiple sites" on the timesheet for them.
On your dashboard, the Hours by job site report splits each person's paid hours across the sites they worked, by time spent at each — handy for charging clients. It downloads as a CSV too.
Yes. On the Job sites tab, paste your list into Add lots of sites at once — one site per line, straight from Excel or an email — and tap Add all. Anything already on your list is skipped.
Monday to Sunday, in New Zealand time. Every date range on your dashboard has This week and Last week buttons that set it for you, and it opens on this week by default.
No — PINs are stored scrambled so nobody can read them, not even us. Just reset it: on the Staff tab, tap Reset PIN next to their name and give them the new one. That also clears a lockout if they've had too many wrong tries.
Yes. Breaks are pre-filled on each entry, and paid hours are calculated automatically once lunch is deducted — so you're not sitting there doing the maths for every person, every day. There's also a break reminder built in so crew don't run over.
Once you've approved your crew's hours, you click Export and Knockoff gives you a CSV that opens right in Excel — formatted ready for Smartly, and works with Xero, MYOB or any other payroll system. Because it opens in Excel, you can eyeball the numbers before you commit them to payroll.
Using a different payroll provider? Email us — it's a standard CSV and we're happy to help you line it up.
Absolutely. Every entry your crew submits lands on your admin board for review. You can approve entries one at a time or all at once, and make corrections before anything is exported. Nothing goes to payroll without your say-so.
You can cancel any time from the billing portal inside your owner dashboard — no phone calls, no awkward retention chat. Your subscription stays active until the end of the period you've already paid for, and you won't be charged again after that.
There are no lock-in contracts. Cancel whenever it suits you.
When you cancel, your plan runs to the end of the current billing period, so you keep access to what you've paid for. We don't automatically pro-rate part-months, but if something's gone wrong or you've been charged in error, email hello@knockoff.co.nz and we'll make it right. Your rights under the NZ Consumer Guarantees Act always apply.
Your business and crew data belongs to you. We handle personal information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. Data is stored securely with our infrastructure provider (Supabase) and payments are processed by Stripe. We never sell your data.
Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
Yes — Knockoff is built and run in New Zealand by Corpworks Limited, for NZ trades. It's designed around NZ payroll (a CSV export ready for Smartly and usable with Xero, MYOB and any system) and GST, by people who've done the payroll-night grind themselves.
